How did I do?
I decided to make a new one so I did.

I like it, I really like how the text pops out along with the color scheme of the text on the darker background

I like it, looks like just a good ole thumbnail. I mean, it's pretty basic, but there not much more you can do with it.

Yeah, I would love to make some cool stuff with the Pen tool, but haven't gotten around to mess with it yet.

Most thumbnails I figured are much better, when they have solid strokes instead of shadows.
But I see why you did it here, as you want the text to stand out more.
Also try getting the text away from the edges.
Even though the image isn't going to be very big, still try and get the best quality photo as you can get, just in case.
Keep in mind when doing more, you should always try and keep your thumbnails the same style, as they are sort of your brand identity, so people can tell apart your videos from others :)

Please resize these images before posting. One of the reasons for it is that it compresses the image and it'll actually look better.
Make a nice cut on the render next time. It seems you've used the eraser to cut around the guy. Not usually a right thing to do.
You can always get lasso tool, pen tool or even the magic wand for a proper fine edge.
Text could use some more work as well. Not feeling the twirl that you did on it. Although would recommend getting some gradient packs for a more extended use. Good job!

Yeah, I only left the blue edges there since nobody would be able to spot it on the thumbnail on youtube.
