Because the rightful Heir is always a Targaryen that would technically mean Gendry is the heir as he is the only person left alive with actual targaryen blood.
Is that how it works? I'm not fully up to date with how heritage works in Game of Thrones so correct me if i'm wrong.
But when it comes to Season 8 and Aegon knows who he is I don't see how it will be an issue. I think Aegon and Daenerys will get married and rule together and father children to rule after them. Targaryens don't care about inbreeding. From what I've read they actually prefer to do that to keep their bloodline pure.
There is no evidence that proves it will make their children crazy if you were wondering.
As for the Night King I doubt we will find anymore information about him or what he wants. The biggest spoiler we got is that he was originally one of the first men turned to Night King from the Forest children.
This is just a speculation but all we know is that he has wanted to get past the wall for thousands of years for unknown reasons. He is actually intelligent, not just some brain dead animal killing for no reason at all. So whats the reason he needs to get past the wall?
Could be possible he just wants to go home and return to human or get vengeance against the forest children for turning him into that creature.
I don't believe that. I believe in nothing until there's proof. But just a speculation to feed your curiosity lel.

Yeah he robert's bastard but Roberts Grandmother is Rhaelle Targaryen, daughter of Aegon V.
