Best method of hacking a copycat's website or messing with the domain owner - wordofpass - Aug 30, 2017 My friend is employed at a company who currently owns several domains, except one. The one domain they don't own is owned (by a John Doe) and being used to slander my friend's company (when you contact them looking to use the service my friend's company offers). My friend has spoken with lawyers and was told legal action is difficult and is not worth it for the cost. I have done a whois search on John Doe's website and it is registered by GoDaddy and has the URL privacy feature enabled where all the registrant and admin information is replaced with DomainByProxy's information. We were hoping to do something to mess with John Doe's website or mess with John Doe to send a message. We have thought of DDoS attacks but that will only temporarily bring down his website and doesn't really send much of a message. What would be the best approach here? We are willing to pay a fee if necessary. Thanks * - Nachfolger - Aug 30, 2017 Not much you can really do to be honest. In order to deface the site you would need to find an exploit and if it's only a text page it's not going to be exactly easy to find one. I would go the legal route to be honest. * - wordofpass - Aug 30, 2017 (Aug 30, 2017 02:19 PM)Nachfolger Wrote: Not much you can really do to be honest. The website does use JavaScript and Flash if that helps. * - Nachfolger - Aug 30, 2017 (Aug 30, 2017 02:26 PM)wordofpass Wrote: The website does use JavaScript and Flash if that helps.JS and flash are both client-side. So it won't change anything. * - Disparity - Aug 30, 2017 (Aug 30, 2017 02:28 PM)Nachfolger Wrote: JS and flash are both client-side. So it won't change anything. User is right, XSS is always worthless. 👍 Spoiler (Click to View) You're in luck they registered with a provider like Godaddy, however, it seems they don't handle slander directly. I'd recommend contacting law enforcement as they suggest and then contact them with details. https://supportcenter.godaddy.com/AbuseReport |
