Your image must begin with HTTPS as the form is now forced SSL and importing non-secure elements doesn't work.

Also, it needs to be a direct link, not the link pasted from browser bar.

given the mime type is actually .png, his URL should work with HTTPS given the certificate of domain.com is valid

Yeah then he should be getting that https certificate in order to work. Honestly, I think it's a big hassle for nothing here. Just use imgur. 😁
