Thread Subscriptions Deleted - Omniscient - Sep 23, 2017
I have deleted all thread subscriptions. Apparently we had many users who took it upon themselves to subscribe to thousands of threads. That's just not acceptable. You have zero need to be subscribe to more than few a dozen threads at most.
I have banned multiple members and emptied the table. I will have to write a plugin to block excessive subscriptions to stop the abuse.

I’ve always thought subscribing to a thread only sent an email saying you subscribed to a thread. I never knew there was an actual section in the control panel showing subscriptions, cool stuff.

Eh it isn't really ruined. Like Omni said if used properly you only need to be subbed to a couple dozen, and if he added a limit I assume it'd just be a little above that so no harm in the end for those who use it normally.
The bans varied, Dean was 2 months, another user is 1 month and another one is 2 weeks. I guess the more excessive the longer it lasts.

I subscribed to maybe 4-5 threads. Even tho I been on HF for over 6 years with 10K+ posts I cant imagine subscribing to thousands of threads at a time lol crazy

The function it self isn't removed. Only the subscribed threads has been cleared.

I used to be one of those members. I had it set so that every post I made would automatically subscribe me to the thread. I liked it because I could follow on threads that I posted in in case people didn’t directly quote me.
If there is a limit I do hope I can still set it like this. I like being able to see them from the user CP. I do wish that it would automatically unsubscribe me if the thread was inactive for a month etc.

I've only subscribed to 3 or 4 threads so this doesn't affect me much.
