What's your CompTIA A+ Certification Test Experience? - sevenfold7x - Oct 10, 2017

Hey guys, I'm almost finished with school and I was just wondering what any of your A+ 901-902 certification testing experiences were. I have plenty of knowledge, practice tests, and resources for when it comes time to take the tests. How did you guys prepare? Let me know👍!

Are you aware of the test size? And the practice question bank size?

There's over 900 different questions, of which a lot are very similar just worded differently or laid out a different way.
It's definetely a struggle even if you do well with tests, this one has a lot of tricky and almost interactive questions as if it's computed to project specific questions after certain ones.
(Theory, not a real thing)

It's a great certification to have. Hope you do well with it, make sure you study at LEAST 25-35 hours total before the test.
After A+, go for Cisco Net Academy semesters 1&2, then go to Security+

Thanks for the reply, I have about 1,250 practice test questions printed out. I've been using Exam Compass, and have been doing very well but it seems like some of the answers could go both ways. But I was hoping to go Net+ afterwards. I have a 3.9 in school so I'm very confident. But I study hours at a time regularly although starting a new job is eating a lot of my time. Did you get certified? If so did it open up job opportunities for you?

Transcender is a good option btw you may want to consider that also you can get different packs, really helped out when I was preping for a Security+ cert.

Thanks for the advice! My schooling cost a lot as it is, I can't throw 200 into resources I can gather on the web myself though. What was your experience with the wording of the questions?

I started with my Comptia Sec+ which I passed.

They say that is the toughest of the A, N, and S+.

I would recommend starting with A+, it is more generalised and hardware related.

Excellent thank you! Do they ask you about voltages and such? I'm assuming they do.. As well as things like USB 1-3 speeds and such.
