Mouse randomly disconnecting - Jimmy Page - Oct 26, 2017

So my mouse randomly will disconnect and then reconnect after a couple seconds. Sometime the Windows noise will play and sometimes it won't and I have no idea why it happens.  So since the weather has been so hot lately I have a fan on my desk for the past couple days with a sliding switch  thing like this

HIGH - OFF - LOW

Today I noticed every time I put my fan on Low my mouse will disconnect and then randomly connect again a couple seconds later and i'm just so confused. It is ONLY the mouse and nothing else. I'm just curious as to why this happens, can someone help explain?

So what happens when the fan is on high or off? By the book, your symptoms don't really fit any profiles for problems given the fan. But given my experience with noise and electrical engineering, it's not out of the realm of possibilities of interference. However, you'd could expect that to affect anything with data lines connected to similar USB ports - keyboards, wireless network cards, hubs etc. Umm ... try the fan on low and use the front panel USB as that use an alternative path as compared to where the mouse is normally plugged in; the mobo.

View the events tab in the device manager for the mouse. If the driver is crashing or the mouse is unplugged, you should see some events generated there. Screen cap that tab or comment on the events.

Is your system custom built? Maybe the connection to the port is bad or loose.

HAHA same thing happens when my friend uses his fan, if it's when ever you turn it on it's the plug in your wall if oyu're using the same surge protector for the fan, and computer, but if not i don't know what it is.
