Legal side of taking a gift back? - Rezy - Nov 2, 2017

My friend has asked me how legal it is for another person to take their gift back without the consent of the other person as this happened to him.

He he was giving something worth around $200, The person who gave it to him asked him to borrow it and has not given it back, after a few attempts to get it back, he told my friend that it was his to start with so he is keeping it, however he will my friend $50.

Surely this isn't legal, if you've given someone the gift?

We have proof of him saying it was a gift in case people say we got no evidence.

That's really shitty. If he was going to take it back, he should've just kept it to begin with.
I mean $50 is $50 either way. Better than nothing. Be optimistic 🤝
Goodluck OP, I don't think this is illegal, however.

Technically once the gift was given, it became the property of the new owner. So it is really theft. But I'm no lawyer.
