Work Flow - Omniscient - Nov 16, 2017
Tomorrow I am going to add the tabs again.
I'm not sure if that will take 30 minutes or a couple hours but it will be one of the first things I do tomorrow.
Having to work on both the theme, the plugins, and the backend is very tiresome but rest assured that everything will get done as time goes on. I feel as if I made a lot of progress in the first couple weeks and I think my car accident really has caused me some personal struggles which unfortunately has effected my work.
I took a few days off trying to relax, heal, and regain my composure. Not entirely sure it worked. My neck and back is still rather sore and now I'm without a car too. But HF is HF and it's a very important aspect of my daily life. I feel as if I've let a lot of members down this past week and for that I feel rather disheartened.
Not asking for sympathy either. Just being honest about my struggles I'm dealing with. Unfortunately it's effected the site and the only way to get past this is to get the work done.
I was really hoping to present a new navigation system but it didn't go nearly as well as I planned. Tomorrow, we get tabs again.
And I will very likely redo the theme from scratch. I thought this theme would bring back positive memories of old HF days but that also hasn't gone as planned. I have some ideas for a new theme but I don't want to give it away. I will likely work in a test environment and create it then import it and make whatever adjustments are needed.
When it comes to the theme it's complicated because we can't stray too far from native MyBB templates. I've already made a lot of changes so that our plugins work. Any MyBB updates often update templates which have the potential to break things. I'd love to have a responsive theme. I was hoping we could make the leap now but I suppose it's poor timing given the amount of work it will take.
This is hard guys. It is. I can however do this but it will require patience from the community and a certain level of understanding that everything is in flux and it's a work-in-progress. I think I got the site functional fairly quickly but much is left still.
I honestly apologize to those who truly feel disappointed at this time. It wasn't my intention to cause havoc. We needed this upgrade for a variety of reasons. It had to get done. The criticism has been hard to read but I'm doing my absolute best to not to negatively react to it and yet suck in the sentiment that I have to fix stuff asap. I feel having a good positive attitude about all this is important.
Work flow is best for me in the morning when I'm fresh and have had a couple cups of coffee. But after 6-8 hours I start losing steam and getting rather tired. I'm getting headaches which I believe are from the concussion I had in the accident.
Anyways, it's 2am and I wanted to share my thoughts and let everyone know what's going on. Expect tabs tomorrow.

I don't think I'm doing "great"....I think I'm doing just OK. I wish I was doing great and getting more done. Lost over 10 days because of the accident and a personal vacation which was planned a while ago. I don't have any specific plans beyond work, work, and more work for the next few weeks. If we're lucky I'll catch a rhythm and things will fall into place.

These things happen but a knock down only makes one stand up stronger, nice to seeing you getting back on your feet.

We're in the same state as far as work rhythm is concerned. All I can say is we just gotta keep on coding and eventually everything will be awesome and smooth again. Good luck and get well btw.

Amazing memories I have on this forum. I am glad I had the chance to relive the memories once more. It seems like many people would blow off the idea of complaints surrounding the theme, you on the other hand listen, respond and implement. Thank you for all you do to make this community great.
I am excited to see the next direction.

Did you consider perhaps changing from MyBB to another board? The majority of other forum software theme are already responsive - the only problem will be adding plugins and the backend if you don't know much about them.

Man I was enjoying the classic theme I like it alot. Unfortunate to see it gone if you decide to rip it. Maybe keep it as an option for some people? Like how modern blue/purple were available and just label this one as classic.

I remember when you created the modern blue/purple theme, Everyone hated it and wanted the old one back. Now that you have kind of gone back to the original themes look and feel every is hating it too and wanting the modern blue back. You just cant catch a break lol. Why dont you just say fuck it and stick with the current theme? I think it looks good and people will grow used to it as they did with the modern blue. One of your best traits in my opinion is your stubbornness and determination to do things the way you want. Dont let the negativity bring you down :)
