Individual wrongfully banned for competition - Bleeping - Nov 22, 2017

An individual that has been getting into sales here recently, known as Ice has been banned and this was the reason that was given to him:
Code
Ban Reason: Advertising competing site (discord)

His Discord channel is about the simple talk about money, and monetizing techniques as well as trading + it only has 110 members, this was in no way a competition to HF. It's also a plus to mention there are no direct rules stating this either.

Edit: His Discord was dubbed 'MarketPoint' and no, he didn't want me to post this either but I thought there is a feasible mistake that was took into assumption here.

Wasn't he hosting a marketplace discord? That's a competition against a majority of this forum.

His thread design said that there was active middlemen, currency exchanges etc.
Not sure how you interpret that as "His Discord channel is about the simple talk about money".

Indeed, it had that as well. Nothing that was in competition with HF though.

The part about no direct rules on advertising a competing forum are in the Help Docs, I just read it again on my phone.

That said, the ban must have been warranted, they don’t make a mistake often when it comes to bans...

As far as I am aware, only reason for that ban is a site or the such that has the same content or topics as the "Hack" tab of HF.  At least this is what I have always known the rule to be.

Monetization, Money making crap, I fail to see why they would be banned, it is all gibberish anyways.

Tell him to use the contact form as it was Omni who banned him.

This. But lets be real, the focus of HF isn't hacking anymore.

Disallowed forum advertising applies to all the bigger parts of the forum. Such as the marketplace, hacking sections etc.
Clearly, trying to advertise a marketplace Discord (Middlemen services, currency exchanges, scammer database etc) is a stupid move and should have seen it coming.

But, can you cite where in the allrules.php this is actually disallowed?

I can't seem to find it....

It relies on common sense i would like to say.
Hack Forums is (in my opinion) a lot of a marketplace forum. Would make no sense to advertise a competitor.

And

Quote:10. Advertising of competing sites is not allowed. This refers to any website with a hacker forum that's similar to HF or has a relatively similar forum structure. Advertising includes signatures, PMs, profiles, and posts.

Or as a "relatively similar forum structure"....

I'm very close to disallowing all linking to Discord. It's being constantly advertised here and it brings away traffic.

Fuck it...adding it to rules right now. Discord advertising is officially disallowed 100% anywhere on the forum.
