Neo - Coopetition: A New Approach to Decentralization - Darkystar - Dec 9, 2017

Quote:Coopetition is the logic behind industrial open source and several energy industry consortiums. It is a setup where businesses who would otherwise be competitors cooperate in a shared project. Through such cooperation, they can develop platforms and technologies that radically change how services are delivered, increasing the total market reach significantly.
In line with these ideas, NEO will begin its decentralization by allowing well known commercial projects and communities to run consensus nodes, forming an initial confederation of actors with a strong interest in guaranteeing the security and success of the network. While it might seem counterintuitive, this architecture will be less centralized than many other networks today. Through coopetition, we can ensure that all players are equal in the network by design. Their power won’t depend on how much money they have, or how cheap their electricity may be.

All nominees for consensus nodes will go through a rigorous identification process before being voted in on MainNet. This process includes providing identification that can hold the owners of the consensus node host legally liable. Each node requires exactly two managing legal entities (individuals or institutions) that will be responsible for their maintenance and patching. There will also be a requirement to provide contact availability to ensure that time-critical events can be handled if they arise.

What do you think of this? Neo was always criticised for being centralised but this might be game changer.

10.000$ for launching a project on their platform. Such innovation.

Whats the point ? If I have the choice between Eth and NEO. I rather choose Eth, its free.

I second that. For a broke person with a great Idea, NEO would kill the dream even before it could start. Whereas ETH would allow the idea to become a reality with the least resistant path. If I ever launch an ICO, I would definitely wanna spend the least amount of money to start off and then build on the capital that I gather from the market.

Although it is true that some ICOs are turning out to be scams, many others have done pretty well for themselves. Some of them would have started off on a very limited budget, to begin with.

In short, paying $10k just to start off is a bit too much.  🤝

NEO is supposed to be a developer tool. Nobody will pay a penny to build something on their platform.

If you knew how NEO reached that current price, you would sell all your coins and never look back. Every NEO investor got tricked by china's false promise that one day NEO will occupy a big role in Chinese blockchain development.

+ their devs don't even care about NEO. They're just promoting their main company OnChain.
