Warning to HF Marketplace Newbies - EPLS - Dec 12, 2017 I got this PM from someone that got scammed by an Ub3r member the other day. I thought this might answer some questions other newbies might have: seka1995 Wrote:First of all i wanna thank you for supporting me, really appreciate it. I'm glad to help. I've been on both sides. 1) I don't know about a post requirement, but to upgrade it is https://hackforums.net/upgrade.php and you can pay $12 for 3p1c, $15 for L33t, and $20 for Ub3r. I'm not sure if 3p1c can, but the policy states any upgraded member can add to the deal dispute database. 3p1c is considered an upgrade. 2) To edit your signature, https://hackforums.net/usercp.php?action=editsig and type what you would like. Let me know if you need assistance with the hyperlink feature so that people can click your signature text to be directed to the thread you desire. 3) It decides on who's trading you, what's being traded, and what the value is. The safest choice is to use Minimalist (or another reputable mm on HF) as a middleman. An even safer choice is to have the opposite member go first, but seeing as you're a fairly new member without any reputation or a upgrade status, that is extremely unlikely. I can point you to some buyers and sellers on HF who I've gone first for multiple times. However, there's one key thing you missed: Next time, use the search feature and enter his username, enable "title only" box. If nothing related to scams comes up, search his UID. Next, go to the Deal Dispute Database and search their username. Searching Zetrix, for example, found that he had a resolved dispute back in '14. I never, ever go first with anyone who has had DWCs or scam reports UNLESS they're 100% proven to be false. RE: Warning to HF Marketplace Newbies - Mr Brown - Dec 12, 2017 Well written mate ! FYI. 🙂 It is such a shame to see upgraded users using their influence to screw with new users. And then people bitch the forums are dying off. Perhaps if people stopped screwing one another over we might get a good community going again around here 😑 RE: Warning to HF Marketplace Newbies - CALIFORNIAN - Dec 12, 2017 Everyone should me cautious no matter what always use your gut instinct guys. Thanks OP for showing us the best method ever regarding upgrading. All newbies should bookmark this whoever wants to upgrade. It doesn't take a genius to see what happens, but nothing can really be done about it. Regular members get scammed everyday by upgraded members because they think that the status means they're more trustworthy. I feel like I've encountered more quality regular members than a lot of L33Ts, tbh. It also doesn't help that when members get scammed they usually flip their shit and follow zero procedures. Some even get their -1s -3s removed (if upgraded) for accusing of scamming without a valid deal dispute thread. Well it's not so much a guide/tut, I just want regular members to understand that the deal dispute database is very important, yet not mentioned or used much by new members. RE: Warning to HF Marketplace Newbies - Outlaw. - Dec 12, 2017 To be honest I think the first two questions are irrelevant, as they're not involved in any way with the marketplace. They're relevant to his case and I'm sure other people have been in the same position. The first two questions addressed the fact that you need to be ugpraded to add to the deal dispute database and you could use your HF signature to advertise your deal dispute thread so others will beware the scammer. We got this one skid shit marker on underwear, hes a multi accounter, and lurks the Requests for Hacking section. HIs method is pretty damn slick too. He will troll the Requests section waiting for a desperate new user looking for hacking help "Hack this facebook, willing to pay" kinda threads. If he finds someone who posts their Skype or Discord ID. That is where it starts. He will add them on and impersonate a high ranked member, Such as Myself or Cryptic, or another well known upgraded well known member, and proceed to scam the user, once hes got the money, he blocks and leaves the legitimate user to deal with the scam report. This has happened numerous times to myself and others, and frankly it is confusing as holy hell to have someone come at you bitching and claiming you scammed them and you have NO CLUE what the fuck they are talking about. 😑 Stay safe people, keep all deals in Forum PMs for Dispute cases, research who you are dealing with and check their rep scores, if they have a bunch of negs saying they are fucking around DWC. I don't doubt this at all, scammers will go through great lengths. True about the DWCs as well. If you see a member with a lot of DWCs, avoid like the plague. Except me. Mine were false. 😝 Good tip with the PM deals only. I prefer that over Discord/Skype, it shows all the proof you need. Sometimes if I'm feeling sketched out I'll record the transaction. Although Omni tells people directly do not do deals, he also says if you are going to to keep it in PM and on site for a very good reason. Skype/Discord it can become tricky to prove who the real user is. People know my normal Skype and Discord, but honestly speaking what is preventing me from making a new account to scam someone and then just abandon it when I am done? Keep it on site, so it can be tracked. The user either scammed you or they were compromised, staff and the such can tell these differences. Once the damn Trust Scan is fixed that will be another major thing to emphase to new users to check. RE: Warning to HF Marketplace Newbies - —C63AMG— - Dec 12, 2017 Nice guide bro will surely help a ton of people! RE: Warning to HF Marketplace Newbies - TheWolf™ - Dec 12, 2017 Nice FAQ thread for those noobies. I had these questions in mind, when I was a fellow noob. Well, using your signature to link people to your deal dispute is new for me, guess I'll do it when I get upgraded if I ever get scammed.
