[Suggestion] Option to Subscribe to a User/Section on HF - Dafuq - Dec 12, 2017
Hey Guys,
I was browsing through the forum and found many threads which were created a while back but I never noticed them. This made me think, wish there was a way we could subscribe to a user to receive updates about their posts/threads?
Or maybe a topic/section wise subscription option wherein a user gets notified whenever a new thread is posted by anybody in a certain section?
Something like, 'Dafuq. posted a new thread titled "[Suggestion] Option to Subscribe to a User" in Suggestions and Ideas section.'
Wouldn't that be awesome? We can click on notifications we wanna check out, and Ignore the rest?
Would love to know your thoughts on this. Do answer the poll as well.

I've wondered about this too, coming from reddit where you a notification if someone say, posts on your thread. I sometimes wish I would be able to get notifications when someone responds to my post here so i dont have to click "view my threads" everytime i want to check.
Also shouldnt the poll be "Do you want a notification system or not" and not is it possible... I mean i have no idea if its actually possible to add but I sure would like one.

Let us wait and watch, it is just an idea as of now. I would personally love a notification system.

I could see this being useful, but also being abused.
People stalking just to harass.
But also people subscribing to people they look at as "Mentors" to always keep up with their content. This could be if you're into coding and there's another user that always post useful stuff and you wanna keep up.
Would probably also make a lot of server load.

Yeah I know we have to wait but what I am saying is your poll doesnt make any sense. You pose a question but the possible answers are irrelevant to the question.
"Do you want a notification system"
The answers should then be:
Yes, I would love to have this feature
No, I would not like this feature
Maybe
Its kind of irrelevant if its "possible to have" if you are asking if "people want it". Unless you want to know specifically if its possible then you would pose the question as, "Is a notification system possible".

A Follow Feature would be pretty cool, but then again I mean if you wanna Follow someone we could just use the Buddy List am i right?
I'm implementing a Follow Feature similar to Instagram, or Twitter to my small forum. I think it'd be a nice addition to HF as well, depending on how it's executed. Would definitely make keeping tabs on your "friends" or "Favorite members" easier.

Is it currently possible to follow your own threads/posts? Like is there i can be notified when someone either reply’s to me by quoting me or when someone replies to a post i create?

Absolutely. There are many knowledgeable members who post HQ content, and I am sure many of us miss out on it coz it gets lost in the numerous post. If we can follow them and get a notification about it, it would be much better imho.
It will also increase forum activity imo, we will get notified in real time and be able to respond or participate in the thread.
And I mean, notified within HF, not via email. I don't mind receiving emails, but I am pretty sure an on-forum feature would be much more useful. 🤝
