Adblock Issue Fixed - Omniscient - Dec 20, 2017 Seems that after adding some ads yesterday a small typo caused issues with anyone using an ad blocker. It is now fixed. Sorry about that. I don't run an ad blocker so I didn't notice until a few members reported it. All good now. Thank you. RE: Adblock Issue Fixed - Bluffer - Dec 20, 2017 I would go nuts if I didn't have an adblocker. Thanks for fixing 🤝 RE: Adblock Issue Fixed - Mαxim - Dec 20, 2017 Good stuff. Clean sweep. Nice method to get people to whitelist HF on ad blocks. We're onto you. RE: Adblock Issue Fixed - Malicious` - Dec 20, 2017 Thanks for the quick fix. Makes sense the issue only started when adding ads. At first I thought it was my adblocker fucking up for some reason. I never use these and never will. I don't want to risk an extension interfering with a sites function. Probably because you don't visit sites we do 😝 RE: Adblock Issue Fixed - Omniscient - Dec 20, 2017 (Dec 20, 2017 03:09 PM)Falx Wrote: Probably because you don't visit sites we do 😝 If a site was plastered with ads I just wouldn't visit it regularly. I've opened sites like that and I just close the tab immediately. RE: Adblock Issue Fixed - Saltpeter - Dec 20, 2017 (Dec 20, 2017 03:02 PM)Omniscient Wrote: Why would you go nuts? Some websites are impossible to use with the amount of malicious porn ads everywhere, with pop-unders and memory-leakers, if site owners were fair I wouldn't use one. You must be running a custom firewall or some hosts file with adblocking, there's probably 0 chance you're running a vanilla system with no adblock. If i disable adblock i'll get nightmares. Edit: Thanks for solving the problem, i tried to pinpoint it but uBlock was just blocking one domain and it wasn't HF. I think that hasn't happened to me in years. I think the worst is Yahoo which sometimes actually has exploits for ads. I think you're visiting the wrong sites then. I disable any ad or popup blocking in the browsers I use. I use Chrome, Firefox, Brave, Opera, and even IE. What are examples of sites you visit with all these problems? RE: Adblock Issue Fixed - RustLang - Dec 20, 2017 Thanks! I was having this issue and figured it was something to do with the theme! Also they attempt to block ad blockers which makes it even more annoying. RE: Adblock Issue Fixed - ZuGgY - Dec 20, 2017 Yeah, thank you, Omniscient! Well, i do torrent too much, also, it may not hinder the page useless but even sites like reddit, couple of other forums i use on games and even any of the StackExchange websites display ads like crazy and they ocupy a portion of the webpage that forces the layout to move for no reason. I may be picky but your site is definitely fine as uMatrix shows this: https://i.imgur.com/mnYPM2p.png but believe me there are sites such as https://i.imgur.com/McKrApk.png which loads what you can see plus the scrolldown it offers with more crap, ofc we're not talking just about ads, but loading endless javascript without being needed for normal functioning/etc, i use uBlock + uMatrix, i always allow 1st-party content by default, which in here means anything from hackforums.net besides 'frames' which are globally blocked (mostly it's flash) can load fine, any 3rd party domain that tries to load scripts will fail, images and css is always fine imo. I really don't know what sites you visit, because everytime i go fix someone's pc/browse on another pc that has no adblock the pages do feel slow and the ads are clearly eating resources, which i can't live with by my choice, i guess we're all picky in our own way but i'm trying to make a browsing-experience fine-tuned for my own enjoyment and so far it's been good. Edit: And adding to this, it's been reported multiple times that malware is spreading more and more through ads, i know i probably don't need to say that to you but it's one more reason to use & recommend to people. |
