Simple solution - let the tool parse a textfile with the actual version from your webspace and if its newer than the users version download the new version via WebClient.

The easiest option for you is ClickOnce Application Update https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/1zyc39fb.aspx

I am pretty sure from what I have read that you push updates through ClickOnce and then people who use your software automatically get a notification (depending on your update strategy) that there is a new update.

Update strategy info:

Here's how to do it

Let's say this is version 1 that we publish.

hit next
[Image: 48UhBYC.png]
after defining your ftp it looks like this
[Image: VMMLRN8.png]
hit next and define the app path that is on the server
[Image: IV8Pf46.png]
hit next
[Image: rA1RPGc.png]
hit next
[Image: zEPzsNy.png]

hit finish to publish app
[Image: 79I7RHp.png]

After successful publication, you will get the following window
[Image: ULLnHCx.png]
now you can install version 1 and let's say it looks like this
[Image: vMCMMUm.png]
now ftp looks like this
[Image: 0iDXy2I.png]

Now let's say you made changes to the code and you want to make a version 2...hit properties

Change the current version to a new one

And publish again..The user will be notified  about update when the program start
[Image: jsHpOUH.png]

after update

I did not go deeper with this, but in settings, you can also specify the necessary things for the application to work from prerequisites & updates.Prerequisites are all necessary commponents and updates contains settings for how will be update...

Happy coding,I hope it will help you
