im sorry in advance if this is the wrong forum, but what is rep? i know its good, but how do you obtain it? what does it do for you? im relativly new to HF, so just wondering. thanks!

You obtain it by people liking you and deciding that you should have some.

There is a whole section dedicated to reputation in the help documents. I read them myself a while ago, as I'm also new.

you can give rep if you're upgraded
133t = 0 or +1
Uber = +3 to -3
R3ked = +4 to -4
The purpose is for users to leave feedback on other users. Rep is normally earned if you contribute something good or you're well liked by users. Normally more rep on a user means they're more trusted (but is not always the case) which is why people try so hard to obtain it.

You have to asslick random Ub3rs and indirectly ask them to rep you, by either being slightly flirty on the homosexual side or by buying a l33t account and repping random Ub3rs hoping they rep you back, so you can release your ebooks on the forum. Make a few friends.. after that, you can vouch their threads and they will vouch yours and it's a continuous cycle of vouching each other's thread until you have bought too many awards for your profile with the money you earned by benefitting people with your generous, highly profitable ebooks. Don't be afraid to start currency exchange services after that and more ebooks!

It actually does, scammers are brought to light and it reflects whether they are an asshole or not in general. But I agree these "huge amount" of rep people try to get purposely can be useless. Ego thing I guess.
