Another reason why projects should have a combination of researchers and developers and, at the bare minimum, a tested product. WRT projects like Tron, you have marketers and a multi billion dollar market cap.

thats kinda crazy I avoid signing up on many sites because of this, when these sites get compromised developers need to be held accountable and face prison time. Then they will be more willing to secure their sites and their users data.

There will always be an exploit to take advantage of. It is up to you to understand what information is being stored and understand the consequences of what happens what the website you trusted is compromised. The developers should not face time for not knowing about an exploit however the company should get fined.

If you read the guys article he literally tells you he has made numerous attempts to contact developers if it wasn't for the article blowing up god knows how long this would have kept going on for. Had the data actually gotten compromised and then prosecutors found that many attempts were made to contact the developers about the exploit and they failed to act on it due to their negligence will be up to the courts. Prison sentence would be guaranteed by me if I had any say. Exploit fix handed on a silver platter not to mention millions of dollars at disposal to pay for intensive development, lots of sensitive information and money at stake. To prison they would go. People don't realize in this day in age such a leak can end someones life.
