80TH/S ASIC Mining Rig or 10+ AMD Vega Mining Rig? - Cereology - Jan 10, 2018

My buddies and I are thinking about investing in a very high-end mining setup. We are deciding between a GPU miner using 10 or so Vega 64/56 or around 5 DragonMint 16TH. We cut down the profits and both are profitable around the same but in different ways. My one question is why does an ASIC miner go obsolete after a year or so. Finally which one is the most logical for us to buy. We have gone over everything and can handle either of the 2 and we know that the GPU set up is more variable in terms of the variety of minable coins. Thanks for your input and reasoning for your answers.  😧 😧 😧 😧

Id go the mining rigs personally. ASIC become obsolete due to the difficulty constantly increasing.

-Resell value
-Can mine the most profitable coin at the time
-(Could be wrong. Hopefully someone can correct me) Have a longer "usable lifespan"

DragonMint out of stock at this time

Vega, so you can sell. ASICS u can only throw away after they get outdated real fast. Only problem is that u wont be mining BTC. U will have to mine altcoins

I would like to say that BTC mining went up in value. I have an Antminer s9 13.5 TH/s and I went from making $22-$30 when BTC dropped in price. You can also mine other coins with it as well such as BCH etc..

I'd suggest GPU mining, you have more freedom with what you want to mine and a decent return at the end if they're not burnt out.

How long have you had your Antminer for?

I got it on December 23rd, however I didn't get to set it up until the 29th when I got back from Florida.

I've been running since the 29th and made around $400.

Edit:

My profit for the time running and the crossed out X transaction was not from mining.

Over the course of 11 days I made the following.

Keep in mind I only have 1 Antminer S9.

You said you would be buying more than one so your profits will be increased by A LOT, also I recommend checking out whattomine.com and view their ASICS section as Antminers can mine any Sha256 coin.

How much did you pay for it? My II on 4 GPU rigs is roughly 10K and I make about .1 ETHER per day.
So not bad, not the best. I have a lot of GPUs which aren't running because of some power issue. Need to get more parts otherwise I'd probably make .12 or so

Check my updated post by the way.

I paid 3.5k when it was less than 5k to get it shipped without having a "placement order".
People sell them for 3-5 day shipping for like 5k+ right now.

Also 10 Vega64's will make him around $90 a day for the most profitable coin where as the alternative would make 2x that.

10 Vega64:

6 DragonMints:

6*16,000 = 96 TH/s

Very nice! I make about .2 per day.
