Implement crypto logos to be used on the forums - JeremyBTC - Jan 22, 2018

The forum supports cryptos very heavily, but we still have to type BTC/LTC/ETH in our posts/titles. I think that at the least, these three should have buttons to click that instantly deploy a logo or symbol for the coin. They could be added to the set of smilies using the codes :bitcoin:, :ethereum:, etc. I would also suggest that they be added to titles. "$" is allowed in titles but there's nothing for Bitcoin

Not sure how this is a site benefit seeing icons in thread titles for this. I think it would look messy even if the concept is "cool".

They don't need to be too fancy. They are simply symbols, the same way we use (@, !, $). Bitcoin's could be simple, a B with a line through it here and there. The first one that comes up on Google is Ƀ. I personally prefer the first one here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_symbol . Litecoin has Ł. I think the crypto symbols are pretty simplistic and would blend in pretty well. That is, for the largest coins.

I agree. I think if there was a way to limit them to just being used posts, it would look nice tho.

Then again I don't think I've used a myBB emote in over a year so who knows if it's worth the trouble of adding

Nah this is dumb, too much effort to import to thread titles.

But if you're suggesting a new smiley, then I guess that's up for debate, but it could make the smiley list look messy, IDK..

Wouldn't the terms BTC/LTC/ETH also provide better SEO than the logos? I do agree with everyone else on it looking messy though, think of the marketplace tags but in the titles all over the place.

Meh, I mean all it would be is a simple B or L, in fact an entire picture or gif would not make sense as that would look messy. But the Bitcoin B and Litecoin L wouldn't be too bad would it?

Custom smilies would be cool, agree that thread titles would look cluttered though

Thats for addresses though, and I'd say the majority of people here use web wallets and not desktop wallets. If I do [btc] it doesn't show the logo also

Gonna bump this. Keep it explicitly for posts/threads, not titles. Titles would be messy.

Agreed smilies for cryptos would be nice, although in thread titles it wouldn't be well received simply because it's just odd.

I'm not even familiar with all the logos, I feel like the text does just fine to be honest with ya.

Although it would make the forum more appealing, but I assume it would also slow down some pages, especially if people decide to abuse the feature.
