Laptop Screen with Black Strip Down It - Voxi - Jan 24, 2018
I'm using an old laptop from my family member, the screen has a black strip down it, I have reset the laptop so it's completely clean and it is still there. I've changed to ever resolution but the black strip on the right hand side of the screen does not go away. Does anyone know what it could be? Could it possibly be that they dropped it?
The mouse doesn't even go over or under the blackscreen, acts like it's the edge of the screen.

It does appear that the laptop screen was damaged. However, you can probably find a parts laptop on eBay or someone might be selling just the screen. Check if the laptop has any video out ports. Since technically a laptop can be turned into a desktop. Meaning if you plug the laptop into a monitor you could use it just like a regular desktop computer.
EDIT: I had to recently plug a damaged laptop screen up to a monitor to retrieve the data off the laptop. Technically only the screen was damaged and everything else worked perfectly fine.
