Innocent newbie... - jordima - Jan 26, 2018

Hi !

I'm actually complete outsider to the world of programming. When I did my exam of programming at Uni (part of a business degree), the professor promised we'd get 50% of the points if the programme executed, i.e. if it did ANYTHING.

Mine executed: the screen turned black, the cursor was blinking at the top left hand corner, CTRL-ALT-DEL didn't work anymore, the reset button didn't work anymore... Only option was pull the plug out of the mains... 😊

Got my 50%

Meanwhile, I do like to learn and read on how the internet and IT really works and what the loopholes are.

And, as you will notice in the "hacking request" area, I have now learned that sometimes, you don't hack because you want to make money or annoy someone. You are obliged to hack to help someone in life with a problem :(

Welcome! Hackforums is a lot broader and not limited to the field of programming.
What language was your program coded in?

You seem like an innocent human being, potentially too innocent for HF.

Welcome, and the two rules of thumb are: Don't mouth off to Ub3rs, and don't share your private info.

Based on experience? 😁

OP, I hope you are much older than me and know how to read the forum rules. Have fun staying here. 🤝

Thanks for the welcome.

No worries, not sharing private info. At least not mine ;)

Good question. Given that we go back to 1993... 😧 😵

I think it was something like C (but don't shoot me over it. You know what happened to that computer)

I know I am too innocent, even in real life 😊 That's why I ended up here.

That is most kind.

Can I ask a first question (really stupid one) : Why is it called a blackhat? 😊

🤣

Thanks.

If only I knew how to replicate it.

I DO remember the face of the professor when he tried to reset the computer 😏

And then the prof: "not really doing what it should, does it?" me: "true, but it does execute. Do I get my 50% now? 😕 "
