Custom No Permission Message Per Forum - MangSamhadi - Feb 4, 2018

Hello folks,

I was wondering if there is a way to have a custom "no permission" message depending on the forum accessed. I already know how to change the language file but that just changed the no permission message for ALL forums.

Any help is appreciated.

This is an enhancement planned for MyBB 1.10. In the meantime, it depends on how custom you want it. You could replicate the error_no_permission() function and call the new one as and when needed, you can also use error('Message Here');. IMO this would be a good plugin addition to MyBB; I may give it a go. Would basically look up the fid when called and display the chosen custom error.

Call a new one where ? Where shall i replace the error_no_permission() function ?

You can add some php variables to the error_no_permission global template.

That way you can call variables such as the link. With the link you can establish the fid and figure out the forum.
It's a bit of work doing it this way, but it would avoid an unnecessary plugin.

The more I think about it actually, the more I'd recommend making your own plugin for this. Probably a lot easier than adding variables like I said, I'm not even sure if it'll be possible. Try looking for a public one first, if that doesn't work - Make your own one/hire someone to do it for you.
