Relational Model to Cassandra Data Model - madcrazydrumma - Feb 7, 2018

Hey guys!

So I've got an ER diagram for a relational model, and I want to move it to a NoSQL system called Cassandra which is a wide-column store. I've had some ideas but after trying different things (which turned out to be wrong), I just can't seem to wrap my head round it.

The ER Diagram is here:

So basically, I want to embed the country and city information within the airports column family, and then create other appropriate column families.

The main part of the problem is I have to define the data model using JSON Schema. I know how I would write it, I just need to first figure out what the structure of the existing relational model will be in Cassandra.

All help appreciated!

To do this, you need to add embedded documents to represent the relation. Cassandra is typically used for data intensive projects and when your dealing with a fair amount of clusters. Is this honestly the best choice?
