Change edit limit on marketplace threads - DeletedUser999213 - Mar 13, 2018

Im constantly editing my thread for updates and things like this, ive now surpassed the 15 edit limit so i cant update my thread anymore, please change this because i really need to alert customers and buyers of the upcoming updates and such

Edit limits will be increased for specific usergroups soon.
I'm sure the marketplace could be excused, but you have to realize that the marketplace is the major issue, too many edits will take up a lot of log space.

Also, please read [Feedback] "You're allowed only to edit your thread 15 times".

There are lots of similar threads about this, and it's a new feature, so suggestions about it are pretty much pointless as it is still being edited around and nobody knows how it will be once finished. Also, how the hell have you used up 15 edits already? That's basically spam...

Have you considered participating in the forum in a manner conducive to not needing to edit your posts?

I think the current limit(s) allows you to do that.

There is still abuse that happens in the marketplace with thread edits.

Consider this hypothetical:

I sell product XYZ to Maxim for $500. It has should have features A,B, and C but only feature C works 100%. I end up scamming him and when he makes a scam report, I remove features A and B (or simply put that they don't fully work). Or instead of doing that, I simply change my entire product thread.

That abuse DOES happen more often than you think.

Yea, some threads get edited a lot with vouches, price changes, stock, and online status. But how often do you really need to edit that when you can instead just have the last post on the thread? If your thread is so active that you have to edit your stock more than the current limit then by the time someone sees it, it's probably already changed.

A great alternative would be to have "See last reply" or even use the See who posted feature and have a link like this:
See my last post for current stock/prices.
Code
[url=https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5802414&mode=single&uid=400724][b]See my last post for current stock/prices[/b][/url]

By doing that, not only would you not have to worry about the edit limit, you would also be bumping your thread quite often (more eyes viewing it).

As far as vouches go; you have two options:
Option 1 is to update your thread once you get X number (ex 10 vouches).
Option 2 is to simply not update it at all. When I look at a sales thread, I look at each page and not what the OP claims people have said. You'd be surprised how often vouches are not even from that thread.

Okay i didnt think of this as i thought there would be a edit history, thank you for the detailed reply and i do agree that the last post feature would be much more beneficial

But none of your edits did that.

You should follow the advice of Charger.
