You could get a strong social media following by getting gamers to shout you out on twitter with a link to your stream, if they like you they will follow you.
Note you probably have to pay for these shoutouts but you could get hundreds of viewers possibly.

You can easily get some cheap viewers by addings randoms on steam addmegroups and inviting them to a group where you giveaway humble bundle codes daily.
Just post a status when you start streaming and you will easily get some viewers that might hang around if your entertaining.
There are also good steam invite bots out there

When i stream, i play with professional gamers so i get some viewers, never less than 50 but just know who to game with. They will definitely help you, heres the thing about playing video games, you cant drop everything and play video games, its suppose to be as a side. Thats the reality, if you arent making money autopilot then i dont recommend you to play video games full time

Increase the quality of your stream. This includes things like graphics and an overlay. Add alerts for followers, donations, subs etc. People love being noticed. Considering looking into viewbots and chatbots to get you higher on the list. Stream with other streamers and share growth.
