Intel i5-4690K - SIM-810273 - Apr 11, 2018 Hey guys, I've owned the Intel i5-4690K since 2015. How do I test and check my processor for deterioration. I want to compare my exact CPU against a brand new Intel i5-4690K just to see how the CPU performance has been reduced over the past 3 years. Is there a way to do this and if so how? Thanks. RE: Intel i5-4690K - webdev77 - Apr 11, 2018 Find someone who has a new motherboard and CPU to compare to. Unless you have benchmarks from when you bought it, you have no baseline for comparison. I'm going to look at UserBenchMark see if they've got anything I can compare against. Unless you have significant problems with your chip, the margin of error between different hardware combinations is going to be larger than any measurable difference. Even with the exact same motherboard you have with a new chip put in might not show any major changes. RE: Intel i5-4690K - Gt403cyl - Apr 11, 2018 Long story short you are fine. Processors genuinly lasta VERY long time, even heavily overclocked (safely) last 5-6+ years before showing signs of degridation. Basically if you overclocked your 4690k when you got it and it’s still stable at that speed then you are good to go. If it’s not stable at the same settings then it may be showing signs of degridation. |
