Start menu won't open - Printable Version

Start menu won't open - Lawsuit - Apr 17, 2018

Night before: I added a guest account to windows 10 by using

Code 
net user Visitor /add /active:yes

net localgroup users Visitor /delete

net localgroup guests Visitor /add

Then I found out that adding a Guest account didn't achieve what I wanted so I deleted the account

Next I did tried to move the the Local folder (C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\) in %appdata% to a different disk but couldn't because it gave me some sort of permission error.
So I proceeded to try to change the permissions on the folder and give ownership of it to "everyone". Didn't work so I went to sleep.

Next day: I turn my pc on but when I logged in, the start menu doesn't open. All my default apps were reset (eg default browser reset back to edge, chrome was logged out, discord was logged out, One Drive was logged out, Google Drive File Stream was logged out, spotify was logged out, etc..) Trying to reconnect to One Drive gave me the error "We can't connect to the specified sharepoint site..."

It's been 4 days now and my start menu still doesn't open.

You might've broken something in the process of creating a guest account and/or changing %appdata% permissions.

Try restoring from previous backed-up image if you have one. Else, try this: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/start-menu-does-not-open-windows-10

forgot to mention sfc scan found no errors

yeah i most likely broke something. I don't wanna reinstall windows if I don't have to lol.

Try killing explorer.exe and restarting the process. Might not be the issue in this case, but I know from experience that that generally works to get the start menu to work again.

That was the first thing I tried but sadly it did not work :(
