Has anyone done Workstay? Volunteer Work? - Phixel - May 12, 2018 So, over the last few years I've come to the conclusion that I can't live without contributing in some form, or way. I've been looking up Charity, Volunteering and Helpstay's etc. I'd like to know if anyone here has done the same. Ideally I would like to help with natural disasters/3rd world countries that really do need the help. Hopefully I can achieve this by next summer and be working over there to help the communities. I've always felt I took everything I had for advantage and would like to see real struggle. However it's not without it's own struggle. In an ideal situation I would like to work 40+ hours per week for accommodation and food for an unknown amount of time (I have no commitments over the next three years). I'm a very people person, so I can imagine what I see over there really effecting me, but I hope in some way I'd be able to contribute and make a difference. What would you guys recommend I do? Where to start, where to look? Is it worth buying membership on websites like helpstay? I'd also like to know if anyone else has done this. And if you felt a sense of achievement and you felt like your time over there actually made a difference to the lives of people there. (I don't believe the money we send over to these countries effects the lives of the people living there whatsoever, so please don't suggest donating) RE: Has anyone done Workstay? Volunteer Work? - jesuschristisfake - May 12, 2018 I did because i had to do it otherwise i'd go to jail. Helped around my local hospital and handled some brochures and stuff, pretty good. Go ahead if it makes you feel like ur more worthy in this shitty society. RE: Has anyone done Workstay? Volunteer Work? - Tesla - May 12, 2018 All of high school I volunteered at my local habitat for humanity every weekend. Just got really busy my senior year so I havnt been there in a while RE: Has anyone done Workstay? I would like to work abroad, I agree our society is corrupt and these people wouldn't need our help if we formulated a humanitarian society, but hey I can't change that. Might as well attempt to contribute, I feel terrible for these people who we pass off as 3RD world and forget about. RE: Has anyone done Workstay? Volunteer Work? - Wake - May 12, 2018 I have volunteered many times but not on the scale of going abroad to do It. They have all been charities close to where I live. Speaking of working for free abroad, that's whole another story, since i live in a shitty and degenerate country, i would take that chance and go abroad for free! I have a friend who's in Italy & Spain and doing something like that, it's not charity but he basically haves food and a place to stay all for free in exchange for work. Makes pretty cool pics for IG tho. RE: Has anyone done Workstay? I'd like to do something of the same but more on the basis of helping others. Where about's do you live if you don't mind me asking? I'm from the UK, we're slowly heading back to the stoneage.
