Unless you have an active as fuck forum, a tabbed menu is a bad idea.

Why do you say that? It is just a nice way of organizing things. That way, the user has the choice to pick what forums they are interested in.

Tabbed menus are okay only if you are going to nest a lot of subforums on it. Also, I'm forced to use tabbed menus due to 100+ subforums, other than that I would never use it.
