Was reputation reset planned ? - bad - Jun 11, 2018
Dear Omniscient,
Can you please explain if this reputation reset was pre-planned, or was it the result of impulse from trolls?
I would be grateful if you could please provide more details, as the reason behind such a decision matters greatly in the long run for members of the HF community. We know it's your forum, but we as members contribute a lot of time and work and such actions affect us too.

I find it hard to believe that Omni could actually stand behind some plugin dedicated to "contracts" with users.

A lot of people seem to have pushed far over his line and set him forth to finally deleting everyone's rep back to zero.
It's a shocker to me to come back to the forum after spending most of my time with IRL stuff and it kind of affects how I view the forum now that all my hard work and effort has been simply reverted back to square one due to a bunch of shitfaces and trolls who complained about a new in-the-works system for the marketplace. I see no reason as to why these individuals who did complain, had to complain in the first place since its best to separate both forum activities and contributions from the marketplace.

A better way to have done this was to have every rep renamed to REMOVED and then added canned rep.

Kids take rep wayyyyy to seriously. A rep fuck wouldve set ya straight that rep doesnt fucking matter the only reason ive ever cared about it is because it affects me with deals and now this new system solves that problem.
I suggest omni bring back repfucks.

Agree with that. Imo it was a bit rushed decision, should've let the reps up till everyone gets the hang of the new contracts system, and once people were getting "trusted" or not via the new system, then just disable the reps. But well, here we are , be careful at CE :'D

I think it was planned to some extent
He had previously stated that he wanted to ban marketplace related reps and implement pre-selected rep comments. This would be hard to transition to without resetting rep

I think this was in the works for a while and I actually think that some people knew it was coming and took advantage of it.
I was scammed in my last 2 deals in the CE section by people with high rep. One person I had even done numerous deals with before and scammed me with apparently no fear of a deal dispute or the effect on their rep.
It all makes sense now.

Anonymous had one the highest reps I've seen on the forum back in the days and he/they scammed for thousands. You can't trust anyone on here. My old acc was even hacked and used for scamming.

If I have not mistaken I do believe a while back he was considering the idea of a reputation reset, But this was impulse it seems.
