you make a new rule to promote the marketplace but then both ways (reputation & marketplace) get cheated on
this activity spike means jack shit
people are attached to the value of reputation of like yesterday, hence why this activity is so high
you'll see slowly that the value decreases and people won't give a shit anymore because it doesn't mean anything more than a number
new members will join and they get confused, they leave because it's all so spammy and stuff
members aren't incentivized to post quality content because there's no value behind these reputations
the contracts are smart but you didn't have to necessarily adjust the reputation stuff

I'd imagine they were just testing the contracts.. also it's not like they're wrongfully using contracts.

This is a brilliant idea at first glance.
You're right though. I didn't mind the rep reset and them being canned, but the rule change allowing r4r is something I'm not too much of a fan of personally.

So me making and completing deals then taking note of them doesn't make me any more of a qualitative member?

correct because your reputation in the marketplace (the contracts) can be faked and these will give a false sense of value
and isn't that why the reputation got reset etc? because it's not strong enough to prove value in the marketplace and to have a more secure marketplace
a scammer can easily confirm 50 contracts of $1 per rep and then scam someone
you can say 'but the victim is stupid for not looking'

Honestly I preferred it how it was 2 days ago, hackforums was perfect imo, now it’s just a shitfest of rep4rep spam, no one is going to be motivated to make HQ threads now since you can literately beg for rep instead of it actually being a sort of achievement, when I got a lot of rep from my drug threads it was something to be proud of since it showed people appreciated them, but now rep literately has no sort of achievement behind it.

As rep wave won't last long, I think it's the best idea to try the contracts system. It's not like you're more trusted if you have 2 or zero deals. Makes no difference to me.
