Dropped my iPhone X in water - RRRaptor - Jun 21, 2018

Went over to Bali for a trip, dropped the phone in water for about 5 seconds, 10cm deep before I grabbed it out. I know it's water resistant not water proof, but it still should be able to be submerged at a depth of 1m for 30 minutes and still survive...

Nothing works. Dried it out, left it in rice overnight, there is no sign of life. Is there anything else I can try before taking it to the Apple store?

Many folks swear by stuffing your phone in a bag of dry rice, and letting it sit for 24 to 36 hours or more.

Maybe you have not left it in long enough

You could try to cover your phone in hot blankets for like 2-5 hours.
Depends on your time and will...

You can try searching on Google for some methods and you'll probably find some of the scientifically proven best methods out there to getting your iPhone (specifically) to work after being submerged in water.

Be cautious before doing any methods people write in here because they may cause further damage, you should probably stick to the best known ones.

I once swam with my iphone 7 plus.
Nothing happened.

I dont know what happened with you but try keeping it in rice for some time and dont charge it.

After that, try to plug it to the charger the keep clicking the lock screen button + volume down

Put it in a clear sandwich bag, seal it well. Put it outside in the sun and let it sit all day. I've done this a few times and it worked.

Damned, that is not good! Normally it is no problem for an Iphone X.. put it in rice for some hours, that trick should works. After that, use a hairdryer for the connections.

Damn, you beat me to it. Supposedly IP6 and can't take that tiny amount of water.

Personally I'd avoid rice like the plague. Between particulates getting inside a device and it's starchy nature potentially causing longer term issues, it's something is never try myself, even as a last resort. It's not even that good a drying mechanism as it only works when in contact with moisture - it doesn't draw moisture out.

Sure people may think it's worked when they pull out what feels like a fully working phone, but the grim reality is that it doesn't. It's a myth. Once water gets inside a device even silica gel is going to have a hard time working.

The problem is that water starts corroding on contact and, unless you get every single last molecule expelled, it'll continue to corrode.

Corrosion takes time so it may not be until weeks later that the true damage is known.

Hello!
The iPhone X is sealed and are waterproof! If you have replaced the screen the adhesive will be broken and your phone will no longer be waterproof, even so the phone should normaly work for some time after it had contact with the water.
Did your phone go black the second you took it up from the water? If so it might have get shocked when it got banged to the ground (if it hit the bottom of the water?) and some connectors to either the LCD or battery may have "jumped" off.
Either way you should take it to someone who kow how to fix iPhone, if it is an apple store, a friend or someone localy that fixes phones.
Dont put it in rice or dry it on the bathroom floor, if there is water in your phone you will not get it 100% dry with rice or etc and over time the phone will develope corrosion and short your phone, specially if it is salty water! IF you are 100% sure your phone never have had a screen replacement or battery replacement etc. and you bought it directly from apple, it is waterproof and you might try to hard reset it; Hold "power button" and "volum down button" simultaneously for at least 10 sec. Its weird how an hard reset can affect an phone :p

Most likely shorted the phone out. Did you try to use or turn it on after it was submerged. Theoreticallly it should be sealed waterproof but it may have been damaged in the past allowing water to contact the electronics.

Welp mine fell in the toilet and it doesnt work now, I went to the Apple shop and they say its not in their warranty, I find it kinda strange that a phone is water proof but when it gets water damage from being in the toilet for like 3 seconds it doesn't get covered in the warranty.
