GDPR Agreement - Real Identity - Riggs - Jun 24, 2018 You should not reveal your real identity to members. Your participation on our forum should be done from an anonymous and privacy perspective. You agree to use a pseudonym username that does not associate to your personal information. This includes, but is not limited to, association with social media accounts, websites you own or manage, ethnicity, location, school, workplace, emails accounts or your real name. Like everyone else reading this, I've now agreed to these. For the purpose of satisfying the new terms, I assert that I am not Jacob Riggs. Any handle adopted by this account is purely fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, dead or alive, or other real-life entities, past or present, is purely coincidental. RE: GDPR Agreement - Real Identity - Eagle 95 - Jun 24, 2018 I feel like that gdpr EU policy was voted by morons without any knowledge of how internet works. Quote:You agree to use a pseudonym username that does not associate to your personal information. You'll associate it with your other accounts if you want to gain publicity, if you're a famous person, hell many people aren't creative and use the same as their real name or email account username... It looks like the law was made up by bunch of 70 year olds who browse internet once a month to check weather forecast. 🤦♂ This is just my general rant of the law, doesn't relate to HF in any way. RE: GDPR Agreement - Real Identity - 2073436 - Jun 24, 2018 the "you're eligible for an account deletion if there are no posts" is quite ridiculous because almost everyone has posted at least once? kinda weird to implement these changes AFTER X amount of posts with content that now suddenly isn't allowed RE: GDPR Agreement - Real Identity - UpTheCrust - Jun 24, 2018 (Jun 24, 2018 02:19 AM)Skìlo Wrote: the "you're eligible for an account deletion if there are no posts" is quite ridiculous because almost everyone has posted at least once? It's not really a change. HF has never deleted accounts with posts. Everything is just being made more explicit and users are having to explicitly acknowledge it now to try to be GDPR compliant RE: GDPR Agreement - Real Identity - 2073436 - Jun 24, 2018 (Jun 24, 2018 02:21 AM)UpTheCrust Wrote: It's not really a change. If these are all the effects of the GDPR law then I think it was definitely overestimated. It's not that bad, right? Barely anyone is going to pay $10 for their 'private' data which probably consists of IP logs and browser information Account deletion isn't possible Users are held responsible for posting private information RE: GDPR Agreement - Real Identity - Doc- - Jun 24, 2018 (Jun 24, 2018 02:24 AM)Skìlo Wrote: It's not that bad, right? This is not anything new though and it existed ever since I signed up, I received a prompt telling me that I may delete my account considering that I have not made any posts yet, I can't comment on the feature's functionality as I have never personally used it before. - Extracting your data can be done for free once every 30 days. If you want to extract the data more than once, during that 30-day period, then you are subject to the $10 fee. Actually one of the first things Xerotic did for me was write a plugin so that if you are a 0 post member you see a link in header to self-delete your account. It provides a notice that once you post your account will not be deleted. I didn't see any sense in posting about this since most members have posts but you would be shocked to know how many new members join then want to delete their account almost immediately afterwards. So we automated it. This was done before I was aware of GDPR. RE: GDPR Agreement - Real Identity - Steve - Jun 24, 2018 Same goes for me, thanks for typing this out. RE: GDPR Agreement - Real Identity - Renowned - Jun 24, 2018 Thank you, not Jacob Riggs, for letting us all know this is merely a persona. |
