Created this build to replace 3 year old Gaming PC. I need suggestions and thoughts - Nicᴋ - Jul 10, 2018

Using this build to replace my current build( i5 + GTX960 ). My budget is pretty much open because I will be putting $500 a month aside to order parts separately so that I can pay other bills. Any suggestions on what to change are more than welcome. Monitor, keyboard, mouse, optical drive, and gaming chair are already taken care of :)

I would recommend just waiting until you have the funds in hand, prices change, availability changes, new products come out....

@$500/m for a $2k build you are looking like 4 months... a lot can change...

I understand that but prices wouldn't change by much other than the graphics card.

They will, ram can swing as much as $30-$50, granted it’s not a lot, but each component add $20 and you are +$160 in no time, also parts that are available now might not be in stock at the same price and the only ones available might be $50 more so...

If you already have an i5 quad, I'd just upgrade the GPU and PSU from second hand parts. If your GPU is getting bottlenecked, get a k model i5 or i7 and OC a bit. If your new GPU isn't going to be bottlenecked by a non k model i5 then there's no point upgrading it. I didn't read which plat you're on but CEX sell £80 socket 1150 (haswell) i5 k models with 1 year warranty. I recently put together this build for exactly £400.

Code
Mobo: New asrock from eBay = £40
CPU: i5 444x haswell from CEX UK = £50
RAM: Already had 4x2GB DDR3 which I'm selling for 2x4GB DDR3 = £0
GPU: Founders edition 1070 6gb = £300
Case: Already have a few cases = £0
PSU: Already have vs550 = £0
Already own necessary peripherals (screen/keyboard/chair/mouse etc) = £0
