is more like the other way around, cia has deep roots on these companies . These social media websites are somehow forced to let the government sniff on their users if they want to survive long term and make abuses themselves without any real consequences

It makes sense, just the real problem is the amount of data that these guys sift through is insane between IMSI catchers, internet traffic flowing in and out of the USA and the world, social media accounts, and other devices such as smart devices to monitor when a suspect is home (eg smart electric meters). The idea of collect it all so we know it all sounds great until you have too much then you are just playing catch up when something happens.

Facebook was probably CREATED by the CIA, along with twitter, google, youtube, etc.. etc..
