FPS drops with a 1080 TI - Biggy - Aug 22, 2018 So, playing fortnite, I'm experiencing FPS drops with a 1080 TI. I just upgraded from a GTX 770. My FPS is decent at some parts but in certain parts of the map, such as tilted towers, my FPS will drop to like 50.... Also, when I'm streaming, the FPS also drops when in fire fights with people. I've tried streaming with GPU and CPU, same issue. My setup: GPU: 1080 TI CPU: i7 4790k RAM: 12GB Motherboard: Z87 Pro4 (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157381) RE: FPS drops with a 1080 TI - OneEightSeven - Aug 22, 2018 Turn off shadow. im pretty sure its just fortnite. No idea why these people buy a 1080ti on a Haswell CPU & 60hz panel. You need a new CPU. (Aug 23, 2018 12:11 AM)NBA YoungBoy Wrote: weird. My 1080 runs a bit fine with eveyrthing epic. I was just about to say this but you beat me to it. Sadly tho, this might also mean that the mobo willneed to be replaced and with that also the ram. You have DDR3 now and most new mobos use DDR4. It's just weird cause I see a streamer with the same exact CPU/GPU as me and gets constant 240 fps. (Aug 23, 2018 12:42 AM)HOMODIN Wrote: I was just about to say this but you beat me to it. RE: FPS drops with a 1080 TI - Banter. - Aug 23, 2018 Yeah I would almost 100% say your bottlenecked, I seen a massive increase in performance once I got my Z370 & 8700K CPU. The OS shouldn’t have anything to do with it other than having proper DX 12 support on Windows 10 vs 7. Having other applications running in the background or a cluttered up HDD may have a small impact but that’s about it. So basically, it’s the CPU no doubt? RE: FPS drops with a 1080 TI - Gt403cyl - Aug 23, 2018 (Aug 23, 2018 04:09 PM)Biggy Wrote: So basically, it’s the CPU no doubt? Honestly it’s really hard to say what the problem is. Technically a 4790k should handle a 1080Ti fine. Grab MSI afterburner and have it’s resource graphing open while you game and after a bit check the graphs for ram, cpu and gpu usage. Post a pic if posible showing those. This should show any hardware bottleneck. I think it's your hard drive personally thats causing issues just putting my two cents out there even though everyone is saying CPU Bottlekneck which I don't see happening on fortnite with these specs as I don't see that CPU limiting the GPU on that game lol the cpu is way enough for fortnite see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9XuCz1FQEU RE: FPS drops with a 1080 TI - Gt403cyl - Aug 25, 2018 (Aug 25, 2018 06:15 PM)Flu0z Wrote: I think it's your hard drive personally thats causing issues Drives wouldn't have that much of an FPS drop. It would either not work or be constantly low. OP needs to see which component is being maxxed out like I said before. |
