Do anti-viruses stop scanning the computer when they are disabled? - licker98 - Sep 3, 2018

I'm mostly asking to prove a point, as I already know the answer.

Just so I'm 100% clear, here is an example of what I'm asking about: If you disable real-time protection in windows defender on Windows 10, will windows defender detect anything or interfere with anything whatsoever?

No , but windows defender will be auto-reenabled and therefore will scan distribute anything as soon as it is enabled .

Precisely. It does nothing until you tell it to.

If you disable realtime it will not scan until it is either set back on or as most av's do they reenable realtime after a period of time.

It depends on the antivirus and the settings you have it at
