Smartphone spy apps, can they actual work or are they just a scam? - dersen11 - Sep 9, 2018

Hi all, newbie here. I'm not really sure if I've even come to the right place but hoping you guys could offer some insight.

There are a lot of these supposed "spy" apps out there for mobile that I've come across like Highster Mobile, Flexispy, XnSpy, mySpy, ect. These are apps which, once installed supposedly collect data from the target mobile device and allow you to view the data remotely. My question is, are any of these things for real, or is it all a big ole' scam? Some of these apps seem to attract a high number of sock puppet accounts shilling or listing bogus sounding "contact info" for individuals claiming to be "expert hackers". I smell BS written all over it.

However, some of these apps have legitimately put a lot of work into building a website and an image that looks very legitimate, like several of the above mentioned. I've read some general comments and reviews on some of the more pricey ones and they suggest that it's not just totally bogus. A lot of people claim that some of features work and some don't, then others will claim that it did nothing at all that it was supposed to. I guess that it could just vary depending on the target phone, right?

The reason why I'm interested in these is because I've become highly suspicious of my wife. I think she's hiding things from me, and I want to know who she's text messaging all of the time. Mainly what I'm interested in is the SMS and phone call data, maybe GPS records, anything else would just be a perk. A lot of these apps claim to offer that and a lot more with their big, pricey paid subscriptions.

Unfortunately all I'm running into are brick walls, between shill posting nonsense and people who are unwilling to help. I just want to know if any of these apps are worth my time and money? If they can actually do what they say they do, then I'm of the opinion that they are. Does anyone have experience with apps like these? Any other recommendations?

Thanks guys.

I wouldn't bother with an app like those lol.

If your the one paying her phone bill you can request to see the phone numbers she is texting / calling. Just contact your service provider.

So everything I've read about that said I would need a court order just to get them to release it to me, or does that only apply for the contents of the text? I'd really like to see what she's texting, and not just who. That's why I was looking into the apps, they at least provide this, however delayed or spotty people have said that it does sometimes work.

There's got to be a way. If anyone knows of a where or a who that might be of some interest to me, my PM box is open.

Why would you need spy apps and such, when you can just track people with tools off Kali Linux

There are actually quite a few ways how you can do this depending on your situation. I have set up my daughters phone to keep track (she's imo to young for a phone) and I can basically see everything.

Interesting. Is SMS accessible this way?

Like the guy above me said, I think some service provides allow access to call and SMS logs which can show you the phone numbers. When I was with Sprint years ago I was able to access that. If you just need to know who, you can look the numbers up on places like yellowpages paid service and find the owner's name.

One method I've thought about is spoof texting, which I believe is possible, is it not? If you know who you're supposed to "be" (the person you suspect), you could try spoof texting her with a different number and saying it's that person using a work/spare/friend's phone, then see where the convo leads.

If you're with AT&T just login into the myatt app and you can go check all of incoming and outgoing texts/calls.

Cricket, but they use AT&T. Don't know if Cricket has that or if it would work.

Can it possibly be as simple as using Verizon Message+? There's a guy on Youtube saying you can do it easily that way if you just get the verification code through. Apparently it works with any mobile? Are there any tells that your phone is sharing with VM+?

Same is true with T-mobile and Verizon. I wouldnt trust the apps. could be botware or other type program.
