Can I make a thread asking for reps in exchange for bytes?
Idc about rep, but just need it for r00t upgrade.

As that's basically an exchange, yes, you'll be fine. Members use this forum so put a thread out there.

Not sure if it stands for that section in particular, but hinting or requesting free reps in exchange for a giveaway is not allowed.

That only applies for this section per section rules.

Staff are only human and get things wrong quiet a bit, Omni does occasionally correct them.
Anyway, nothing wrong with challenging a staff member's answer if you think there is an issue with it or he is forgetting something.

Nobody would post such thread in Member Contests anyway, no point of applying it there, it'd be moved to freebies section, and if violates any of the rules there, junked. This is a direct small exchange and should be in marketplace as you can see most of threads related to one OP's looking to post. 😉
