Interesting guitar recording techniques + A song I made utilising them - scam. - Sep 30, 2018 So I got no clue if anyone here will even be interested in audio engineering but recently I've been experimenting with some cool guitar recording techniques. In this one I did a chorus effect. Heres an explanation / example. Skip to 1:30 for the song https://soundcloud.com/tomorrow/recording-techniques/s-fbFjW Each guitar being detuned very slightly from one another. Most wouldn't be able to tell from hearing each one alone but together they have a really nice sound. I panned the two guitars that are tuned 2 and 4 cents lower than natural to to left. The one tuned 2c is at about 50% to the left and the 4c one being hard left. Same for the right side with the higher tuned ones. The only processing on the guitar bus is a parallel reverb and and EQ. Very little work needed to make it sound good. I'm definitely going to be doing this a bunch more. Really nice stereo width and each layer being slightly differently played from the last gives a nice natural feeling opposed to throwing on a plugin. Hope I'm not the only one here that finds this kinda thing interesting |
