Opinions on Banksy's 1million prank - docka - Oct 6, 2018

So there's a street artist named Banky who is "an anonymous England-based street artist, vandal, political activist, and film director. His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stencilling technique". His paintings go for millions but he believes in doing them for the community and not profit. Below is a video of what he did to his artwork once sold. I think it's extremely fascinating and want to know what the communities opinions are on this.

That’s pretty damn funny if you ask me, I don’t think he gives a flying fuck what it’s worth really, but some of his pieces I admit are incredible

I wonder how the shredder actually worked. Was it self-activated or was he actually in the room?

This was an amazing stunt to whoever pulled it off whether it actually was Banksy or someone else. The funniest part was that it was true.

How did he manage to keep the shredder running is what baffles me as it's been placed in the painting for years.

Yes, it's really happening on the news portals, also on youtube. People surprised.

Don't you feel sympathy for the person who bought it? Or maybe they're lucky because it has apparently doubled in value.

Now the art is worth triple. Buyer is happy.

I think that's bullshit. Monetary value is the indicator to artistic value. If he really didn't care he wouldn't post it on Instagram for the attention and he wouldn't have social networking accounts. I'm sure he has tons of money now and it's not his main driver for artistic expression but that doesn't mean he doesn't give a "flying fuck" about it.

I'm fairly certain he was laughing his ass off when that happened

Well giving the circumstances, it highly possible that the Bidder did not even have to pay because they had not took full legal ownership of the item.
i am unsure on the legality of Auctions but i would assume this kinda would rule out any bids to count.

yet again its possible the buyer still took the item, or better yet he bought it himself and launched a good publicity stunt ?

I've heard that he's a film director or something, not sure how true that is though.

Best part is he was probably there. Wish there was a list of people.

Also oof he uses a protonmail

Banksy is a sellout. I don't respect him anymore because he used to be all about wanting to do art for the freedom of will.

Well, the only thing to comment on this is, genius marketing stunt!
He got all the attention he wanted.
