Hashes on hashes.org - Mai_saasaa - Oct 26, 2018

Now I downloaded a file from hashes.org which isa dump of daily motion
I am a beginner so I don't understand the difference between the "left" and "found" hashes
Also, how can I extract the password I want from there?and absolutely I don't know how to crack it so please help me

RE: Hashes on hashes.org - Hooded Robin - Oct 26, 2018

left = hashes that have not yet been cracked by anyone
found = hashes that have been cracked and plaintext password is known

As the community submits hashes they have cracked for each list, the website will update those two files to move from left to found....

You can download the found list(s) and parse them to get the plaintext values to improve or check against your own wordlists and rule sets.
The found file, will have a content format of 'HASH:PLAINTEXT'.

Alternatively, the left list will have uncracked hashes no one has "found" yet so you can download and try to crack a few and help the community out.

Both files can be handy once you get into hash cracking, just depends on what your task or goal is. Recommend you spend some time in the Cryptography section, as well as reading more on Hashes.org or Hashkiller site to see how they operate as most of this is explained on their sites already. Research Hashcat, MDXFind and JohnTheRipper (JTR) for more guidance on the most common tools used for cracking.

Hope that helps a little, use the search as there are a lot of tutorials already out there to further help you go down this rabbit hole...

The found list was not in plain text and that is why I got confused
Any idea?

Its in the format:
HASH:PLAINTEXT

on each line of the found file, so you will need to parse it to obtain a new list of just the plaintext values. You can find online tools to help in this (I believe Hashes.org has one) or you can code something up rather quickly or search the forum as I know I've posted how to do this on windows, linux and a few programming ways in the past...
