Linux on Mac HELP - WillyT1998 - Oct 31, 2018

I mess up my Mac and deleted EVERYTHING! I have Kali Linux on usb and want to get it on the hard drive so when it boots it will not require the usb. Any help?

*keep in mind I have no OS currently except on the usb.

You just need to install an OS. See the installation instructions.

Every time I try to install Kali it restarts the computer to boot into it but it says there is still no OS. (? Folder is flashing)

I have to plug usb back in to boot to Kali.

Maybe install a Mac OS first on your laptop, than use Parallels desktop or Virtualbox and install Kali linux, that might be better? Since it may prevent any further damage in future to your actual mac and save time to not having to restart everything again if this occurs.

Skip to 2:40 - If the hard drive is not showing up, just create one and start from there.

Anyhow hope you sort it out with however you do it ~

Like others have said above you need to install Mac OS, then install Linux.

Unless your drive completely broke, you should have the recovery drive, so do the COMMAND + R, but if that doesn't work you can always buy a new drive with mac on it.
