Mobile Reply Glitch - Nyx - Nov 23, 2018

So I tried to reply to a thread and my HF was lagging, so I tried to click the submit post button again, still no response. I tried it a few more times and had no results, so I turned off my wifi and tried to submit the reply on my 4G, same thing. I then turned on my wifi and then clicked it one last time and finally it went through but said you have already submitted this response.

I then thought to myself, cool! It must have worked. I go back to the thread and I see 12 of the same replies without the
"hr "seperating them. Each reply acted as if it was from a different user making the posts go further down the page. I then deleted all the posts but one.

Is this a known glitch for mobile users?

Not sure but I had a similar thing happen yesterday when I posted a new thread. I clicked 'post' and it just timed out, so i clicked it again and it eventually worked. Then a few hours later I noticed it had made the same thread twice

Yeah happened to me too several times.

Happens when your internet is too slow and you manage to click a number of times when the page remains loading.

This is on the mobile browser version correct? I don't seem to get that

Yes, my internet was acting slow only on the reply thread.
For some reason I could connect to any other part of the site without lag but when I kept going back to submit the reply, it would sit there slowly loading until bam, 10 replies all different post ids came up.

Much of the lag issues seem at least on PC due to the ipv6 instead of ipv4 ip address. For me anyway. Not sure if that affects mobile..

Smart phones made within last few years all have ipv6 capabilities. Verizon customers (me) may have been using it since 2015.

Check your public IP address is it IPV6 or 4? on mobile

what thread is it? no screenshot?

RE: Mobile Reply Glitch - Τelevision - Nov 23, 2018

This happens if your internet lags. Maybe your mobile internet was lagging.

If this ever happens again, don't keep posting, and it won't give you 12 additional posts/threads.

I already had deleted the extra posts.

I already figured that part out, but I am wondering why it was allowing my post to go through and not give me the "you have already posted this reply message"

RE: Mobile Reply Glitch - Elitas - Nov 23, 2018

There is obviously potential for this attack if you send multiple cloned POST requests simultaneously; although interesting the strict HF firewall(s) doesn't block it.

I have no idea, but it happened to me before when my internet was lagging for a few seconds. That might give some clues.

The post detector was somehow bypassed.

RE: Mobile Reply Glitch - Xerotic - Nov 23, 2018

I actually think it is more likely that the HF server was responding slowly vs your internet connection. Otherwise HF should have caught the repetitive posts, unless perhaps they were timed extremely quickly.

EDIT: During backups and some other important server processes you may experience some site lag and odd behavior.
