two hard drives - Blackhawke2002 - Nov 24, 2018 Hi guys and gals, As I've taken in more info from the forum here, i've also started looking deeper into my computer and just what it's configuration is. One thing that's always puzzled me: I have two hard drives (C and D). C is where my OS runs, D is everything else...or at least that's my most basic understanding of it. However, my C drive is damn near full, all the time, and I'm hesitant to go in and delete files for fear of messing up my OS, having to re-install, etc. Can someone shed some light and the purpose of the double hard drive, and any tips to cleaning up the smaller C drive? What other info is needed to help answer the question? RE: two hard drives - ๖ۣۜApocalypse - Nov 24, 2018 Just download Glary utilities and perform a disk cleanup. You'll notice a big difference. RE: two hard drives - Blackhawke2002 - Nov 24, 2018 awesome thanks, i'll give it a try RE: two hard drives - Disease - Nov 24, 2018 You may want to move your libraries like Documents and Downloads off your C drive. Depending on what's there, it may make a significant difference or not. Right click on the libraries in Explorer, choose Properties, go to the Locations tab, and hit Move. Give them a new home on your external. RE: two hard drives - webdev77 - Nov 25, 2018 The point of multiple drives is simply more storage space. In some cases it's also used for performance increases, but for the vast majority of users, a second drive is just extra storage. RE: two hard drives - Blackhawke2002 - Nov 25, 2018 latest update: the d drive is just gone. i was going to run the glarys utility as recommended, but there's no d drive to be found now...to the google i go |
