My friend says rape is worse because it traumatizes someone for life while i say murder so what do you guys think? Both are terrible though

Rape is by far worse in my opinion. I would never want to be in that position. Imagine having to live the rest of your life after such a horrible and traumatic experience?

IMO murder is probably worse for the family/friends and rape is probably worse for the victim.

I think rape is worse since, like your friend said, you are traumatized for life. Murder is worse for relatives though.

I'd have to agree with this.
With rape, the victim will be scarred for life, but at least they're still around. Their family isn't mourning their loss and never seeing them again, but the victim is going to deal with emotional turmoil the rest of their life and it could end up effecting them very negatively (loss of job, toxic relationships, etc).
Compared to murder, the victim doesn't feel anything. The murder itself could've been brutal, but the victim is dead. The family will have a lot to grieve over and it will be hard for them.
I think rape might actually be worse now that I'm typing it out. With rape, once the crime (and possible trial/conviction/etc) is done, the victim just fades off into the shadows. It's not something people will actively remember and try to reach out to the person to help (similar to families where their loved one is killed). It's a person who is now scarred from a traumatic experience and has to try to navigate through it on their own. Yikes.

And sadly, you will even find in some cases the victim getting raped then murdered

Murder is worse, think about it... If someone gets murdered it affects everyone around them drastically. Rape is awful but it's not permanently taking someone's life away, recovery is always possible.

Yhea, I'd agree with this. But you can't really put felonies like those on a scale imo.

Anyhow, rape is worse, it traumatizes the victim and it also affects its relationships with family members and other people around the victim. Murder on the other hand results in death, death comes with life so we all will die at some point for sure. Either way, murder is way worse for the family and friends obviously, but for the victim, well, the victim won't at least be traumatized...

Exactly what xerotic said, murder is gonna impact the family and friends of the victim significantly, but rape will seriously affect the victim.

I would say murder but then again, I have no idea how long a victim would take to recover from a rape incident. Still, they have life on this planet even though it hurts them when thinking about it. I think that's better than not being here ever again.
