The Rest of Me - First song, need constructive criticism - Gangin' - Feb 17, 2019 Rap/Hiphop Genre Spent the last few hours in my room trying to record something just to get my emotions out Didn't create the beat, since I don't have the money for good software right now it's kind of pointless to try Just looking for criticism on lyrics and some helpful tips on how to make my voice and flow sounds better (Edited on audacity) I was inspired to make this today because I went to a party last night and witnessed my ex's boyfriend get violent towards her, and I felt hatred towards myself for freezing in place and not knowing what to do. It ended up turning less emotional at the end for some reason https://soundcloud.com/user-331131359/the-rest-of-me-prod-why-loner/s-o4EOQ Feel free to PM me or post here RE: The Rest of Me - First song, need constructive criticism - asdfghjklzxcv - Feb 17, 2019 The structure is pretty decent, especially for your first time. The message is good, but you're right, it definitely strays away at the end. It happens to anyone who writes. Pretty much you begin writing and spilling emotion into your song, and by the time you reach the end you're looking to finish the song rather than give anymore emotion. It's normal, it happens, and staying on topic only gets easier the longer you do this. My only major suggestion is to either get a lower volume beat, or learn how to ride the beat. Your lyrics come naturally the more comfortable you get with writing, but make the beat your best friend. You kind of fight against it, and while Blueface might think he's cool for doing it, it's definitely not something you wanna do. Learn how to land a punch on either the snare or the bass, and the message will feel stronger. Overall though man great job. Keep at it!
