What is the easiest way to run asp.net code for a newcomer? - zazas - Feb 20, 2019 I have a few asp.net files but I don't know how to try them. Do I need compile file and install IIS? ð RE: What is the easiest way to run asp.net code for a newcomer? - itcorp - Feb 20, 2019 (Feb 20, 2019 02:42 PM)zazas Wrote: I have a few asp.net files but I don't know how to try them. Do I need compile file and install IIS? ð Depends on what type of files you have and it depends on whether these files are compiled or not.If you have an entire project ,you can run the project without any problems through visual studio because IIS Express server is included with visual studio. In case you do not have a visual studio and you have compiled files you need to install IIS on your computer and place files on server. Also, if you want to publish your web app on the local computer, you will need to install IIS on your computer. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/aspnet/web-forms/overview/deployment/visual-studio-web-deployment/deploying-to-iis RE: What is the easiest way to run asp.net code for a newcomer? - zazas - Feb 21, 2019 (Feb 20, 2019 04:36 PM)itcorp Wrote: Depends on what type of files you have and it depends on whether these files are compiled or not.If you have an entire project ,you can run the project without any problems through visual studio because IIS Express server is included with visual studio. In case you do not have a visual studio and you have compiled files you need to install IIS on your computer and place files on server. Also, if you want to publish your web app on the local computer, you will need to install IIS on your computer. My files is in dll extension, does it works if place them in IIS? If I attach them to Net Reflector I can see source code. ð€ RE: What is the easiest way to run asp.net code for a newcomer? - itcorp - Feb 21, 2019 (Feb 21, 2019 12:53 PM)zazas Wrote: My files is in dll extension, does it works if place them in IIS? I think I have asp.net webservices in code. Just want to test that code. Do you think or know that you have services in app?Make a picture of the files that you have and share web.config first to find out what you actually have from files at all.You can not run the application simply with dll files. There is no web.config file. I think this is .aspx pages. RE: What is the easiest way to run asp.net code for a newcomer? - The Social Engineer - Feb 21, 2019 Have you tried VisualStudio Code? It seems to have support for a multitude of languages, though I can't recall if asp was one of them. Worth looking into though. RE: What is the easiest way to run asp.net code for a newcomer? - itcorp - Feb 21, 2019 I looked at the pictures you sent to me on pm.You only photographed the contents of the bin folder where compiled components are located i need also the content of bf2web folder which is in your case a root folder and web.config file. And I ask you not to go through private messages in the future, so that the content of this conversation is open to everyone for the purpose of learning.I can tell you at first look of folder content that apparently there are libraries that perform jobs for mssql server so if you do not have a database you need to try to make it based on query in code and in web.config change connection string to your mssql server. If the application has configured services you will see than in web.config because it will contains endpoints of service and they will be available to you after you hosts app successful and you need to configure all the necessary things that app requires it to do this. But as the conversation unfolds more and more I think you want to misuse someone's project who spent his time on it and I do not support it so I'll get out of the conversation but i also think that i told you too much. All the best RE: What is the easiest way to run asp.net code for a newcomer? - zazas - Feb 21, 2019 (Feb 21, 2019 02:57 PM)itcorp Wrote: I looked at the pictures you sent to me on pm.You only photographed the contents of the bin folder where compiled components are located i need also the content of bf2web folder which is in your case a root folder and web.config file. All the bestThanks for your help, but there is no web.config file I only have those dlls and nothing else.
