Setting up a testing environment.. - Eurx - Mar 9, 2019

Hello,

I am interested in someone giving me a direction on how to create a testing environment for penetrating or even just "hacking" our own systems. Essentially self testing our systems versus the interwebs. I currently have a W10 environment. Any sort of tips/suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
E

You mean like a Virtual Machine?

Look into things like

metasploitable
DVWA
Vulnhub
Pentesterlab

I would suggest using Virtual Box to set up your pentesting environment. You can put metasploitable on there or a windows xp machine or both at the same time. Any you like, very easy to set up. You can also create virtual networks too, which is useful for interconnecting all the virtual machines together on same or different networks.

It's always good to see users looking to learn in a safe environment:

Or

Or

Beyond that vulnhub is a good place to get vulnerable VMs
