When are inactive / closed accounts cleared? - Hack Forums - Mar 14, 2019
Hi everyone. There's a lot of banned account across HF whether it be for scamming or blackhat activities or anything that breaches the Forum rules, which means that there are a lot of Usernames which are inaccessible to users who want said Username.
Do inactive / banned accounts ever get cleared for new or active members to use or are they lost forever?

They eventually get pruned and those usernames become available.

Recently a huge amount of closed accounts have been pruned. If the username you want isn't available yet. You will have to wait till the next wave of accounts prune.

Oh so they do eventually become available, that's good to know. Is there a certain time since account was banned / inactive before they get pruned or is it random?

i don't remember the number, but it's between 5-10 years i think.

Maybe not if the users b4 using them were doing very illegal stuff on here. Other than that, there should be no reason not to. 👍

You should read his post instead of commenting on his title. His english isn't perfect. The post is clearly looking for information regarding when usernames are pruned if they ever are.
